Ken Anderson:
Ken tends to consider three dimensional issues: how do the
forms advance and recede because of the alternating surface
textures? How do the sculptural shapes move across the picture
plane? From afar, a formal grace predominates, though composed
of somewhat rough and uneven textures. Ken works primarily
with colored wax, or oil pigments, or pastels, looking to
create this grace with a near three dimensional texture and
effect. Each year, the Katie Gingrass Gallery takes Anderson's
work to SOFA
Chicago.
