Gustavo Fares:
Gustavo Fares is a visual artist from Argentina, residing in the United States since 1985.

Fares holds a Professor Degree in Painting and Drawing from the "Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredon" in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He undertaook post- graduate studies at the "Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Ernesto de la Carcova" in the same city. After settling in the United States, Fares completed a Master in Painting and Lithography at West Virginia University, and Ph. D. Certificate in Cultural Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. There he received grants from the Tinker and an Andrew W. Mellon Foundations. He has exhibited his paintings in the United States, Argentina, Spain and Mexico.

In his works, Fares uses traditional materials, such as oil and acrylic on canvas or paper, as well as computer generated images. Fares’ current visual interests include the exploration of imagery linked to Latin American marginal representations of the Sacred, of the limits and possibilities of painting as a medium, and of topological spaces as they relate to the philosophy of language.
