Denise Presnell-Weidner
I select color as if it does not need to represent
any element in nature. Instead, I use color based on its ability
to hold its own in a composition. Having become tired of the
usual tones of autumn leaves, I include turquoise, scarlet
red, and intense cadmium making color zones across the canvas
with smoothed-out minimal brushstrokes. I feel obligated as
an artist to manipulate nature with my paintbrush.
